As one of the wealthiest countries in the world, Qatar’s vision of a sustainable future is not only linked to actions taken on Earth. A broad interest is expressed in testing sustainable social and economic development using space technology.

Therefore, Qatar University has established a space innovation laboratory and launched the “Global Space Challenge for Sustainability” contest to reach the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030 through space exploration and new technology that would help global sustainability efforts on Earth.

An ambitious Qatari spirit led to cooperation with NASA to address climate change and promote sustainable development. One of the main parts of this collaboration is designing and launching a satellite to study climate and the effects of climate change. The projections are that the satellite will be launched in 2025.

The long-term goal of Qatar’s National Vision is to become an advanced society capable of sustaining its development and providing a high standard of living for its people by 2030. Therefore, the constant hard work is focused on five significant challenges that Qatar as a country faces:

  • Modernization and preservation of traditions.
  • The needs of the current and future generations.
  • Managed growth and uncontrolled expansion.
  • The size and quality of the labour force.
  • And economic growth, social development, and environmental management.

This framework is a strategic approach for future society with a more positive footprint. Stay tuned for more episodes about sustainable efforts made in Qatar. Like, share and subscribe.
