Is there a secret to longevity? This health expert says 1,000% yes

In the era of social media, post-COVID, and with mental health at the forefront, a shift is taking place in how people perceive well-being. As a new approach that looks beyond traditional medicine gains popularity, one voice stands out: Natalie Lefevre, a longevity expert whose journey from personal health struggles to keynote speaker and influencer has inspired many.

“I believe we’re in a major paradigm shift,” Natalie explains. According to the health optimisation expert, who was misdiagnosed 18 years ago, conventional systems often fail to address the root causes of illness. Instead, she advocates for a proactive, investigative approach to health—one that emphasizes prevention, self-awareness, and personal responsibility.

The recipe for longevity

“Being the CEO of your health is the biggest job you’re ever going to have,” says Natalie during an interview with Qonversations. For her, longevity isn’t about quick fixes or miracle cures but about understanding your body on a deeper level.

“Preventative medicine is key because when you catch it too late, it’s too late,” she explains.

This starts with personalised health, such as knowing your genetic blueprint, microbiome, and nutrient deficiencies. It also involves analysis to catch potential health issues before they develop into major problems.

“The mind is talking, the body is listening”

For Natalie, health is not just physical.

“We store trauma and emotions in our body,” she says, noting that unresolved grief, stress, and emotional pain can manifest as physical illness.

Processing emotions and finding effective stress-management techniques are therefore crucial parts of the longevity equation.

From travel blogger to health expert

Born in the Seychelles Islands and once known for her luxurious travel content, Natalie’s journey into the wellness space wasn’t always straightforward. After years of travel blogging, she realised that while the glamorous lifestyle may have brought her fame, it didn’t bring fulfilment.

“I felt like, am I really providing value to my audience?” she recalls.

Her answer came when she began to pivot toward health, longevity, and biohacking. But this transition wasn’t without fear.

“Should I do it? Am I going to lose followers?”

Despite her initial hesitation, Natalie’s passion for health resonated with her audience. Today, she has more than a million followers on Instagram.

“I love what I’m doing so much, and I don’t care if I lose followers. My goal is really to help elevate people’s lives and inspire them to live better,” she says.

Natalie hosts ‘Elevate Life,’ an Instagram show where she features experts and doctors to inspire people to live healthier, longer lives.

Health and social media: A double-edged sword

As health becomes a growing industry and an increasingly popular topic on social media, Natalie acknowledges both the benefits and risks of this trend.

When asked whether social media could make healthcare more accessible, she explains that while some accounts offer valuable information and tips, they can also be dangerous when people self-diagnose or trust influencers without medical expertise.

“I would say really trust the serious doctors and trust the things that are proven,” she advises.

“People are trusting individuals who say: ‘Hey, this is great, it works.’ But they haven’t done their due diligence—they don’t know if there’s a clinical trial, if it’s proven, or if it will specifically work for them and their needs.”

What can we do to stay healthy?

When asked for daily health tips, Natalie Lefevre advises:

  1. Walk or exercise daily – “You don’t have to do any crazy training,” she says. Walking helps detoxify the body and strengthens muscles.
  2. Saunas and cold plunges – According to her, these rejuvenate the body. She recommends four to five sauna sessions per week if possible.
  3. Meditation and breathwork – Even five minutes a day can help quiet the mind. “If you can’t meditate, take five to 10 minutes to really shut off your phone and just be quiet,” she advises.
  4. Detoxify and check for heavy metals – Natalie recommends natural remedies like chlorella and spirulina for detoxification.
  5. Stay positive – Music, positive affirmations, and maintaining a positive mindset are key tools for emotional and physical health.
  6. Balance – “You can get everything from healthy, whole food nutrition,” she says. “I only take supplements that are good for me.”
