List of Auctions Sotheby’s Has in Store for You in 2024

Sotheby’s Auction House has been the bed of auctions over the years by parading the best of art, luxury goods, and exhibitions. The year 2023 for this auction house is nothing short of amazing as they made one of the biggest sale of the year by selling Pablo Picasso’s “Femme à la montre”,  a painting of one of his mistresses, Marie-Thérèse Walter for a massive €126.1 million.

It’s a new year and Sotheby’s in New York City has more intriguing, bigger, and better deals lined up for just you.

Golden Nectar: ​​Kweichow Moutai Online Sale

A visit to the auction house’s website reveals the best lineup of sales from January through to December 2024. Sotheby’s has opened the lot for bidding on more than “60 fine Moutai wines, spanning the 1980s to the present, including Moutai wines produced in 1988, 2000, and 2012.”

The sale is dubbed the “Golden Nectar: ​​Kweichow Moutai Online Sale” and will run from 3rd to 11th January 2024. The Moutai wine produced by Kweichow Moutai Company Limited is a famous Chinese wine brand that has been served at prominent functions such as “welcome dinners for US President Nixon’s 1972 visit to China, as well as Xi Jinping’s and Barack Obama’s 2013 Bilateral meeting in California”.

Royal and Noble Sale

Another upcoming auction sale by Sotheby’s is the “Royal and Noble Sale”. This sale covers an array of ancient noble jewellery and furniture from the 19th century. Items include a French polychrome-decorated parcel-gilt throne armchair estimated between 50,000  to 70,000 GBP, and a “Flemish Old Testament Biblical Tapestry”, from the series “The Life of Ahab and the Kings of Israel” which is also estimated between 40,000 – 60,000 GBP. The “Royal and Noble” collection is open for bidding from 5th to 17th January 2024.

Umm Suqeim 71

Nex on Sotheby’s auction table is the Umm Suqeim Villa 71 located in United Arab Emirates. The auction house describes this opulent edifice as “an architectural work of art” by renowned designer Viktor Udzenija. Umm Suqeim 71 boasts custom-designed bronze patina doors, a “curated collection of fine art and designer furnishings” and “massive entertaining spaces with natural light”.  Bidding will officially open on January 10 and close on January 18.
