If you’re planning to travel soon, you might want to consider flying through Hamad International Airport (HIA) in Qatar – it’s just been named the second-best airport in the world! What’s more, HIA also scooped up awards for ‘World’s Best Airport Shopping’ and ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ for an impressive nine years in a row.

These accolades were announced at the Skytrax World Airport Awards 2023, which took place at the Passenger Terminal Expo in Amsterdam, The Netherlands on March 15th, 2023. The World Airport Awards are a big deal in the airport industry – travelers and customers are the voters in what has become the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey.

Since 2000, the World Airport Awards have been conducting an independent and impartial study to measure customer satisfaction on a global scale. This survey is recognized as the gold standard for airport quality, assessing customer service and facilities at over 550 airports. The best part? The survey and awards are completely independent and not influenced by any airport management. The World Airport Awards rely on feedback from airport customers of over 60 nationalities. The survey is designed to assess the customer experience, ensuring that the awards reflect the opinions of a diverse range of travelers from around the globe.

It’s no surprise that HIA has received such high praise from travelers. Opened in 2014, HIA has quickly become a favorite among travelers worldwide, providing a plethora of services and facilities that make for an unforgettable airport experience. The airport boasts state-of-the-art facilities, fantastic shopping and dining options, and top-notch customer service.  Recently, HIA underwent a major expansion that included the creation of the stunning indoor tropical garden, The Orchard, as well as new lounges and exclusive retail outlets.

If you haven’t had the pleasure of flying through HIA yet, it might be time to add it to your travel bucket list!
