Royal titles for Harry and Meghan’s children
Confirmation of the titles bestowed on Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the two children of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, has been received. The two siblings will now be known as Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Prince Harry and Meghan’s children will be referred to as prince and princess – the couple made this known when they declared their daughter’s royal title on the occasion of her christening.
The spokesperson for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle confirmed that Princess Lilibet Diana was christened on March 3. The Archbishop of Los Angeles, the Rev. John Taylor, officiated the ceremony.
Under royal protocols, the grandkids of the monarch can obtain titles of prince or princess, making Archie, 3, and Lilibet, 1, eligible since their granddad ascended to the throne last September.
A letter patent issued by George V in 1917 established a precedent that gave the sovereign’s male-line grandchildren the titles of prince and princess.
Buckingham Palace announced that the royal website had been updated to include titles for Archie and Lilibet.
It was unclear until now whether the couple, who had withdrawn from royal obligations in March 2020 and are now based in California, would prefer to have their children referred to as prince and princess.
Meghan revealed in an interview two years ago that the Royal Family declined to make Archie a prince and had conversations about the shade of his skin.
Interest in Harry’s children’s titles was sparked by revelations in his tell-all memoir this year and documentary late last year concerning his allegedly strained relationship with his father, King Charles, and brother Prince William.
