Brazil’s title team for 2026

Brazil entered the 2022 World Cup as heavy favorites but was knocked out by Croatia in the quarter-finals on penalties. Thus, the dream of winning the sixth world title is postponed for another 4 years.

Selecao won the last trophy in 2002, so at the start of the World Cup in 2026 there will be 24 years of waiting for a new title. That’s how long it took to win another World Cup and after Pele 1970 until Romario 1994. Between 1994 and 2002, Canarinho played in three finals and won two.

The first concern, the search for the right man to restore confidence in the lot

The first concern for Brazil will be to find the right manager to primarily restore confidence in the team after the misses of the last few finals tournaments. The Selecao has not even reached the Top 4 since 2014. As for the selection, the future coach will not lack options, at any time he will be able to put together not one, but even two or three very strong teams. But who is left after the 2022 World Cup?

The big question mark has Neymar in the foreground. The PSG superstar is 31 years old today. If Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo could play without problems in Qatar, theoretically Neymar can also catch another World Cup, even if he is currently experiencing a big disappointment.

“Honestly, I do not know. I think talking now is bad because of the heat of the moment. Maybe I’m not thinking straight. To say that this is the end would be rushing myself, but I don’t guarantee anything either Let’s see what happens going forward,” said Neymar.

With or without Neymar, Brazil will surely be a big contender for the world title again. And maybe it wouldn’t hurt to end up being less dependent on a footballer, as has been the case for the past decade

At the level of the gate, there are no reasons for changes

For the goalkeeper position, Brazil is secured for the next four years.  Allison Becker (34 in 2026) had a solid performance at the World Cup in Qatar and will continue to defend for Liverpool. Manchester City is also very happy with Ederson (33) and has no reason not to give him further credit. And the battle for tenure between the two will be a win for the national team as well.

In defense there will be news

If we take a closer look at the Brazil squad that played in Qatar, the most significant changes will likely come in defence. Tite’s defenders had an average age of 30.6 years. Alone, this is not where the problems were for the Selecao at the 2022 World Cup, but there will be changes. Three men from the current squad will probably also be at the final tournament in 2026, if they will be medical ok, Marquinhos (32 years old), Eder Militao (29 years old) and Bremer (28 years old). They all play today at top clubs, are starters and key people are announced in the years to come.

Plans around Paqueta and Guimaraes in midfield

In midfield, Lucas Paqueta (29) and Bruno Guimaraes (29) will probably be the men around whom many strategies will be thought. Of course, Casemiro (34 years old) will not be taken out of the calculations either, but his wear and tear will be even greater in 4 years and there will be question marks if he will still be in the team then.

Several forwards will be with a strong experience

Their attacking line will, as always, arouse maximum interest in the Brazilian national team, and players such as Vinicius Junior (26), Rodrygo (25), Richarlison (29), Gabriel Jesus (29), Antony (26) will have a strong experience. Plus, by then, other young talents can rise.

Brazil is always favorite in any tournament they play. It will be no exception in 2026 either, especially if we look at the current team. The Selecao is a “factory” of footballers, so at any time this whole group of players can gain even more consistency.

Small details will make the difference, and in this case, the coach and the style of play he will implement will be very important.
