One Month On: World Cup Qatar 2022’s record-breaking 172 goals
FIFA dubbed Qatar’s World Cup “the best ever”. A month after the final whistle of the soccer World Cup, FIFA announces the record-breaking statistic of 172 goals scored during the tournament last November and December in Qatar, the highest number of goals in the history of the tournament.
88,966 spectators packed into Lusail Stadium and close to 1.5 billion around the world watched a nail-biting final between Argentina and France on 18 December 2022.
