According to Elon Musk, his company Neuralink has successfully implanted a wireless brain chip in a human subject.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), he noted that the procedure had yielded “promising” results in terms of brain activity and that the patient was “recovering well”.

The aim is to link human brains with computers to address intricate neurological disorders.

Several competing companies have already installed identical devices.

The recent development within the brain chip implant community must be understood within the larger context. While numerous companies create innovative products, only a handful have successfully implanted their devices in humans. With this achievement, Neuralink now joins an exclusive group, yet true success can only be evaluated in the long term.

One notable company that has also achieved significant progress in this area is Switzerland’s École Polytechnique Fédérale in Lausanne (EPFL). Their groundbreaking work has allowed a paralyzed individual to walk through the power of their thoughts.

This feat was accomplished through the use of electronic implants on his brain and spine, allowing for wireless communication of his thoughts to his lower extremities.

The breakthrough was officially announced in May 2023 when its details were published in Nature’s peer-reviewed journal.

Mr Musk’s claims have not been independently verified, and Neuralink has not disclosed any information about the alleged procedure.
