Quietly released by Microsoft, a dedicated Copilot app for Android has been made available on the Google Play Store. This app grants access to Microsoft’s Copilot, powered by AI, without requiring the Bing mobile app. The Android version of Copilot has been accessible for approximately one week; however, an iOS version is not yet available.

Microsoft’s Copilot app on Android is comparable to ChatGPT, as it offers chatbot features, DALL-E 3 image creation, and the ability to draft text for emails and documents. Additionally, it provides free usage of OpenAI’s newest GPT-4 model, which would otherwise require payment when using ChatGPT.

The launch of the Copilot app for Android comes a little over a month after Microsoft rebranded Bing Chat to Copilot. Previously, the company had introduced its AI initiative in Bing search with a ChatGPT-style interface integrated into search results. This feature is still accessible, but the branding has been changed to Copilot and it now functions as a separate experience on its own domain, copilot.microsoft.com – similar to ChatGPT.

Expanding the standalone Copilot experience through mobile apps appears to be the logical next move, especially with the rebranding of Bing Chat Enterprise to Copilot. Although an iOS version is not currently available, it’s likely just a matter of time before it’s released. In the meantime, you can access all of Copilot’s existing features through the Bing app on your iPhone or iPad.
