Following his exceptional leadership in guiding Argentina to victory in the World Cup Qatar 2022 as their captain, Messi was recently bestowed with the prestigious Laureus Sportsman of the Year award. The award ceremony took place in Paris.

In addition to that, Messi also accepted the World Team of the Year award on behalf of the Argentina men’s football team, which won the championship in Qatar. Messi made history by being the first athlete to win both the World Sportsman of the Year Award and the World Team of the Year Award in the same year.

Following the ceremony, Messi took a moment to reflect on the memories of the World Cup in Qatar, demonstrating the profound impact it had on his career and personal life. Recalling the joyous month-long tournament, Messi expressed his fondness for the experience, stating, “Well, Qatar always shows up. It’s a very special moment in my career, in my life, and well, there’s always a time to remember that moment of that World Cup which we enjoyed a lot for a month, and there are always nice memories left, and it’s going to be for life.”
