Forbes magazine has named a 19-year-old Brazilian woman as the world’s youngest billionaire.
With a net worth of $1.1 billion, Livia Voigt took up the role from Clemente Del Vecchio, an Italian teenager who is only two months her senior.
Livia’s position in the ranking is cemented by her 3.1 percent stake in WEG. She is the largest individual shareholder of the renowned manufacturer of electrical motors and industrial machinery company.
According to Forbes, Livia Voigt is currently a student at a university in Brazil and does not hold a position on the company’s board or its operations.
WEG was co-founded by Livia’s grandfather, Werner Ricardo Voigt, along with billionaires Eggon Joao da Silva and Geraldo Werninghaus. The company has factories in over ten countries and exports to over 135 countries globally.
In 2022, WEG had nearly $6 billion in revenue.
“WEG provides global solutions for electric motors, variable frequency drives, soft starters, controls, panels, transformers, and generators,” the company’s website said.
Livia’s elder sister, Dora Voigt de Assis was also featured on Forbes Billionaires list this year. Just like her younger sister, the 26-year-old owns a 3.1 percent stake in WEG and has a net worth of $1.1 billion.
Dora holds a degree in architecture and does not hold a position on WEG’s board or its operations.
The latest ranking by Forbes was accumulated as of March 8, 2024. It also featured a wide range of young billionaires with names such as Evan Spiegel, Ben Francis, Palmer Luckey, and others all listed for their respective gains and strides made within the period.
This year’s listing saw about 25 young individuals ranked on its Forbes Billionaires list. Together, they are worth $110 billion.
