The Christmas celebrations are gradually coming to an end but there is more excitement to watch out for as 2024 ushers us into a year of rewards and awards. From the reputed Emmys to the Oscars, next year will be filled with the recognition of our A-listers who pulled their weight in the exceptional projects in 2023.

Golden Globe Awards

The Golden Globe Awards after a long break returned with an explosive nomination list. Slated for the 7th of January, 2024, the top on the list of nominations for the Global Globe Awards is ‘Barbie’, a film directed by Greta Gerwig which clinched nine astonishing nominations. Following closely is Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ as it comes in with eight nominations.

Emmy Awards

Another awards ceremony to expect next year is the Emmys. After it was cancelled to air on September 18, 2023, its original set date, one of Hollywood’s esteemed award shows is set to come back to Fox on January 15, Martin Luther King Jr Day. The 75th Emmys was cancelled in September due to strikes from Hollywood actors and writers. This edition will be hosted by Blackish star, Anthony Anderson.

Oscars

The biggest awards ceremony in the world, the Oscars will officially be held on March 10, 2024. Known for its prestige, the shortlist comes in a mixed bag. Again, Greta Gerwig’s Barbie leads the nomination list. Other movies that made the cut are “The Colour Purple”, “Beau is Afraid” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3”. This is a night you wouldn’t want to miss.

Cannes Film Festival

The Cannes Film Festival is the next big thing when it comes to the celebration of global movies. In a not-so-much surprising manner, the festival announced the ‘Barbie’ director, Greta Gerwig to be its Jury President for 2024.  The 77th Cannes Film Festival is expected to take place from Tuesday, May 14 to Saturday, May 25, 2024.
