Gulf countries emphasize the need for a ceasefire and reduction of tensions in Gaza, as conflicts in the Gaza Strip and the humanitarian crisis of the Palestinian nation will be the main focus of the meeting of the heads of the Gulf countries on Tuesday, December 5 in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
The 158th meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf countries was held under the chairmanship of Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani on Sunday, December 3, which is the preliminary meeting of the Gulf Summit.
The Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jassem Al-Badawi, said, “Foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries discussed several reports on the implementation of the statement of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council approved by the 43rd summit.”
The review of strategic relations between the countries of the Cooperation Council and other countries as well as international organisations and the latest developments in the region and the world were other topics discussed in this meeting.
Jassim Mohammad Al-Budaiwi, Secretary General of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council, issued a statement at the end of the meeting outlining that, “The political positions in the statement of the upcoming meeting in Doha are clear and agreed upon by all members.” He assured: “The final statement of this meeting will have many successes.”
Al-Badawi emphasized that “GCC countries have a common destiny and future, they seek to activate joint institutions and projects so that Gulf citizens can achieve constructive developments for unity and integration and to accomplish common interests.”
This Gulf official added, “The countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council made extensive efforts to reduce the tension in the Gaza Strip, and Qatar’s role in reaching a humanitarian pause in the war and the arrival of aid to the Palestinian people inspires gratitude and praise.
He affirmed, “We will not spare any effort to help the Palestinians, and without a doubt, any solution in Palestine will be applicable in the future with the significant role of the Gulf countries.”
