The special visa system on Phú Quốc Island distinguishes it from other Vietnamese destinations. Foreigners and Vietnamese nationals with foreign passports can access and stay on Phú Quốc Island for up to 30 days without a visa, according current restrictions. This opportunity is extended to people who arrive at international border gates—by air or sea—and then travel directly to the island to take advantage of this visa exemption.

Why Phú Quốc Stands Out: Key Criteria of Its Visa Exemption

The distinctiveness of Phú Quốc’s visa policy is underpinned by four specific criteria established by Vietnamese law: the presence of an international airport, geographical isolation from the mainland, definitive socio-economic policies that align with national defence and security, and its designation as a unique ecological area. Consequently, Phú Quốc Island, located in the Gulf of Thailand, offers convenient transport access through three international border gates: Phú Quốc International Airport Border Gate, Ha Tien International Border Gate, and Duong Dong Port International Border Gate.

Expanding International Connectivity: Direct Flights to Phú Quốc

Notably, multiple daily flights connect Phú Quốc to various countries and territories, including the Republic of Korea, Thailand, Taiwan (China), Malaysia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Mongolia, with additional direct routes being established to accommodate increasing tourist demand.
