After it was cancelled to air on September 18, 2023, its original set date, one of Hollywood’s esteemed award shows, Emmy Awards is set to come back to Fox on January 15, Martin Luther King Jr Day.

In a newsletter released on Wednesday, award-winning Hollywood actor, Anthony Anderson, disclosed his role as the host for the 2024 Emmys. Referencing the strikes that warranted the abrogation of the Emmys from its September date, Anderson suggested that it was time to put the Hollywood troubles behind.

“With our industry’s recent challenges behind us, we can get back to what we love — dressing up and honouring ourselves. And there’s no better celebratory moment to bring the creative community together than the milestone 75th Emmy Awards,” Anderson said.

Adding that he is elated to host the 2024 Emmys as Time Person of the Year, Taylor Swift is not available: “When Fox asked me to host this historic telecast, I was over the moon that Taylor Swift was unavailable, and now I can’t wait to be part of the biggest night in television.”

Anthony Anderson recently took over from Jamie Foxx to host Fox Entertainment’s upcoming show, We Are Family. His excellent performance over the years tips him to be the person to host the 75th Emmys, describes the President of Unscripted Programming at Fox Entertainment, Allison Wallach.

“After Anthony hosted our upcoming show, We Are Family, we knew he’d be a natural fit for a star-studded, anticipatory night like the Emmys. …Anthony’s known for his humor, heart, and spontaneity, so he’s sure to give audiences in the theater and at home a night they’ll never forget,” she said.

Anderson has also enjoyed some prestigious nominations from the Emmys ranging from 11 nominations for his work on ABC’s Black-ish as a star and executive producer on the comedy series for eight seasons.

He has further featured in the Emmy-winning Live in Front of a Studio Audience specials, as Henry Jefferson in Live in Front of a Studio Audience: Norman Lear’s ‘All in the Family’ and ‘The Jeffersons,’ and as himself in Live in Front of a Studio Audience: ‘All in the Family’ and ‘Good Times,’ performing the opening song with Patti LaBelle.

The 75th Emmys was cancelled in September due to strikes from Hollywood actors and writers.
