Nick Westcott is a senior European diplomat turned professor of global diplomacy at SOAS University of London. British High Commissioner to Ghana and Ambassador to Togo, Burkina Faso, Niger and Ivory Coast, Westcott went on to become the Managing director for Africa at the EU’s foreign service, serves on the Editorial Board of African Affairs, and is a member of Chatham House and the Royal Geographical Society. We discussed the coups across Africa, the underlying causes of social unrest, and how military juntas are managing security in comparison.
