The new campaign’s launch film depicts Deepika Padukone’s trip, transiting through Doha’s Hamad International Airport and its most beautiful orchid garden, alternating with the architectural splendour in the background. The film then shows her seamless time aboard a Qatar Airways flight, from being greeted to every need and luxurious detail provided by the stewardess and the technology offered on board the ‘Qsuite’.
The photography throughout the advertisement is exquisite, with particular attention to light, and is accompanied by the classic 90s track ‘Ain’t Nobody’ in its acoustic form. It successfully gives an air of easy breeziness that makes travel look like a simple and beautiful experience. The Premium Experience campaign film is perfectly named. We can feel it.
The choice of global brand ambassador is equally telling. India’s population of over 1.4 billion people were the third most important provenance of flights incoming to watch Qatar’s World Cup matches, after neighbours United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia respectively. Currently hosting the G20 in Delhi, India is a powerhouse with a world-famous film industry, dubbed Bollywood, expected to reach the market size of 212 billion Indian rupees by 2024, according to Statista.
Deepika Padukone is an acclaimed actress in India starring mostly in Hindi films, as one of the highest paid and highest grossing Bollywood superstars, she was also named by Time magazine as one of 2018’s most influential people in the world. Qatar Airways’ announcement that Padukone is their new campaign’s global brand ambassador comes hot on the heels of the major box office success of her most recent Indian film, Pathaan.
Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive said: “This collaboration brings together refinement and grace, and Deepika showcases beautifully on how Qatar Airways offers award-winning premium experiences both in the sky and on the ground to its customers. Deepika is an obvious choice as she has the right global appeal and charisma for our brand. We are truly delighted to have Deepika on board Qatar Airways as our Global Brand Ambassador.”
Qatar Airways posted its highest ever net profit of QAR5.6bn ($1.54bn) during the fiscal year 2021/22, according to Gulf Times and “currently flies to more than 150 destinations worldwide, connecting through its Doha hub, Hamad International Airport”.
